Flavia Agnes is an Indian women’s rights lawyer and pioneer of the women’s movement in India who focuses on issues of gender and law reforms.
Agnes is a co-founder of MAJLIS, meaning ‘association’ in Arabic, “a legal and cultural resource centre that campaigns for and provides legal representation for women and children. So far MAJLIS has supported over 50,000 women in Mumbai and across Maharashtra to secure their rights and counselled many more.
In addition to her legal work, Agnes is an accomplished author and her autobiographical essay on domestic violence`My Story Our Story … Of Rebuilding Broken Lives’ marked a significant moment in the Indian women’s movement.
